Dietetic Internship: Goals and Educational Philosophy
Program Goals
-
Prepare graduates
through a curriculum based on the CADE core competencies in clinical
dietetics, foodservice systems management, community nutrition and
health promotion for entry-level practice and to become a Registered
Dietitian.

Provide a well-rounded, supervised, experience that is based on
current standards of practice and responds to the needs of the
State of Arkansas and the Veterans Health Administration System.
- Provide knowledgeable and supportive professional
faculty and staff who will mentor dietetic interns in the achievement of
their goals as well as cultivate the development of their
professionalism.
- Prepare graduates in the development of skills to
meet the changing needs of the profession.
Educational
Philosophy
Graduates of this
generalist program acquire the necessary competence to practice as
entry-level dietitians in a wide variety of settings including hospitals
as clinical and administrative dietitians, in food industry as marketing
and research nutritionists, in health spas as nutrition and fitness
instructors, in health care facilities as consulting dietitians, in
health departments as community nutritionists, in health care clinics as
nutrition counselors, and as food service directors in small hospitals
and long-term care facilities. The program is designed to utilize the
unique variety of health care facilities in the Little Rock area. |
