General Recent News

  • Congratulations to Dr. Tom Guyette for being recognized with a Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award by the UAMS Graduate School. As one of the two awardees from the Graduate School, Tom also received the Chancellor's Faculty Teaching Award from UAMS Chancellor I. Dodd Wilson, M.D. Click here and then here to learn more.   • Dr. Laura Smith-Olinde is serving as an Administrative Intern within the College of Professional Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for the fall 2009 semester.
  • The Department welcomes its newest faculty member, assistant professor Kathy Shapley, Ph.D. Dr. Shapley's email address is: klshapley@ualr.edu
  • On Friday, June 5th, 2009 the Department hosted a day-long professional education workshop on the topic of Autism and related disorders. There were nearly 100 attendees.
  • Congratulations to Dr. Nannette Nicholson, who was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and granted tenure by the AR Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2009.
  • On May 13th the Department hosted its annual Graduation Reception for our M.S. students and their families.  This ceremony was held at the Bailey Center on the UALR campus from 5:00-7:00PM.
  • Our annual AUSP Thesis Forum was  held on May 01st, 2009 at 12:00PM. This forum gave those students who elect to do a thesis an opportunity to present their research to faculty, fellow graduate students and family. This year's presenters were Jessica Beatty and Ashley O'Neill.
  • Our NSSLHA chapter hosted a kickball game and BBQ for faculty, staff and families on May 1st, 2009 at 4:00PM at Allsop Park in Little Rock.
  • On April 21st, 2009 Megan Anders, Au.D. student, was awarded 1st Place at the UALR Graduate Student Research Forum, for her presentation titled, "Impact of Noise on Reaction Time using the Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT)"
