Current Research: · Computer-assisted Cognitive Anxiety Scale (CAS) methodology. This study’s aim is to determine the effectiveness of measuring cognitive (state) anxiety using a computer-assisted methodology compared with the traditional oral-interview methodology. The computer-assisted methodology could be used with individuals with communication difficulties that may not be able to participate in the traditional oral-interview. · Perceptions of communication problems among consulting and non-consulting individuals with hearing impairment and their significant others. This study’s aim is to examine perceptions of a broad range of hearing problems among adult individuals who have not sought hearing services, those who have sought hearing services, and their significant others. · Non-consulting individuals with hearing impairment & significant others: Comparison of same & different sex couples. This study’s aim is to compare perceptions of couples in same and different sex relationships on a broad range of hearing problems. Potential barriers to and motivations for seeking hearing services for each group are compared. Future Research: · The effectiveness of audiological rehabilitation for individuals who do not wear amplification or use assistive technology. · Perceptions of communication problems among first-time consulting individuals with hearing impairment and their significant others prior to amplification.
