Current Research
· Research related to pragmatics and social interaction skills. Currently a coding system for charting group interaction behaviors is under development. A follow-up study to determine the long term results of intervention on the lives of pragmatics group clients is under way.
· Issues related to autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. Specifically research is being conducted to determine specific social interaction goals for each of these populations.
· Continued development and standardization of the First African American Children Emotions Scale (FAACES), a speaking attitude test.
· Communication problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Currently examining the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on the perception of emotions.
Future Research:
The development of a therapy manual for pragmatics group therapy.
