Graduate Assistantships

The UALR/UAMS Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology is able to offer approximately 30 to 35 graduate assistantships each year to students pursuing masters' degrees in speech-language pathology. The average assistantship is $5000 to $6000 for 12 months.  In return for receiving the assistantship, the student is required to work approximately 15 hours per week for the agency providing the assistantship funds, carry a full academic load, and maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Sources for assistantships vary from year to year. Most are offered by outside agencies such as the Veterans Administration Medical Centers. A few are offered by UALR and UAMS. Chair of the departmental Financial Aid Committee is Mrs. Beth McWeeny. During the 2007-2008 academic year, over $135,000 in graduate assistantships were awarded to students enrolled in the Department.
