The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a motivated
and innovative individual for the Director of Didactic Education position at a
developing program. Assistant/
Associate Professor rank to be determined by qualifications. Tenure or
non-tenure tracks available. We are
searching for team-oriented faculty members to create a dynamic and
collaborative program. UAMS is a large medical facility with seven institutes
including the Reynolds Institute on Aging, Stephens Spine Institute, Jones Eye
Institute, Myeloma Institute for Research & Therapy, Psychiatric Research
Institute, Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, and Translational Research
Institute. The university has five
colleges including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health
Professions (CHP) as well as a Graduate School of biomedical sciences. The
College of Health Professions which houses the PA Program also has 22 other
programs with the potential for innovative inter-professional opportunities.
The PA Program has strong administrative support, excellent benefits and
professional development for obtaining a PhD/EdD, and a tremendous collaborative
spirit.
Qualifications
1.
Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program.
2.
Master’s degree. Doctoral
degree strongly preferred.
3.
Current NCCPA certification.
4.
Three years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.
5.
Academic experience in physician assistant education as a full-time
faculty member.
6.
Eligibility for licensure in the state of Arkansas.
Responsibilities
1.
12 month, full-time position that reports to the Chair/ Program Director.
2.
Participation in development, coordination, evaluation and revision of
curriculum.
3.
Participation in the ARC-PA Provisional and future Continuing
Accreditation Process.
4.
Course directing of specific didactic phase courses.
5.
Instruction in areas of knowledge and expertise.
6.
Academic advising of PA students.
7.
Participation in student applicant admissions and interviewing.
8.
Participation in department meetings, college and university committees,
and state and national PA organizations.
9.
Clinical practice opportunity available.
