Goals of the UAMS PA Program
 

 1.      To provide comprehensive, high quality, patient and family-centered educational experience for the students.

2.       To prepare and graduate students who possess strong medical knowledge and can clinically apply that knowledge to patients.                 

3.       To train students to exhibit professionalism in the classroom, on clinical rotations and after graduation.

4.       To provide each student with the tools necessary to academically succeed and graduate from the program.

5.       To instill professionalism, integrity, ethics, cultural awareness, and compassion in students and faculty/ staff.

6.       To establish an educational culture that embraces all aspects of diversity of patients and other health care professionals including race, ethnicity, age, gender, socioeconomic status, faith, sexual orientation and disability.

7.       To create an educational atmosphere of inter-professional collaboration and community involvement within the department, college, university and community.

8.       To emphasize evidence-based medicine, clinical application of medical knowledge, and strong patient and family communication skills by students and faculty.

9.       To produce physician assistant students who possess the ability to practice with a supervising physician in any discipline of medicine and in any health care environment.

10.     To produce graduates who will improve the access to healthcare for the residents of Arkansas by increasing the number of practicing physician assistants in the state.
