High Risk OB
Reaching out through a growing real-time, interactive video network,
ANGELS continues to develop evidence-based guidelines with the
combined expertise of physicians across Arkansas. This collaborative
forum provides health care providers an opportunity to define best
practices for selected conditions and peer-review of high-risk
cases. Discussions are lively and informative with case studies
presented by providers across the state. Specialists from multiple
disciplines contribute current expertise and management practices.
The High-Risk Obstetrics Teleconferences are offered every Thursday
from 7:00 – 8:00 AM.
For more information regarding the guidelines or the collaborative
teleconferencing programs, please contact the ANGELS Call Center:

Neonatal
Evidence-based neonatal guidelines continue to be developed with the
combined expertise of physicians across Arkansas and specialists
from multiple disciplines. The first purpose of the Neonatal
Teleconference is to assist the doctors of Arkansas to keep up with
the best current neonatal medical practices. The guidelines, along
with an illustrative case presentation, are used to achieve this
purpose. The second purpose of the teleconference is to provide a
regularly recurring setting in which Arkansas doctors can interact
with UAMS doctors. Getting to learn from each other, as well as
getting to know each other better, can only help us to provide
better care for sick newborns.
The Neonatal Teleconference will be included in the Peds PLACE
initiative held on the third Thursday of the of every month from
12:15 - 1:15 PM.
Obstetrical Neonatal Exchange (ONE
Team)
Each month, maternal/infant nurses meet for statewide nursing grand
rounds via teleconferencing. The obstetrical neonatal teleconference
is held on the first and second Friday of every month from 11:30 AM -
12:30 PM. Nurses have an opportunity to discuss with their colleagues
cases and events that relate to the everyday practice of obstetrical
and newborn nursing, evidence-based practices, and current standards
for patient care.
In Arkansas, high-risk obstetrical and newborn patients are often
transferred from rural hospitals to a tertiary care facility in the
center of the state. Communication and continuity of care are
crucial to provide the best care for these patients. The nursing
teleconference provides a forum for nurses in rural areas to find
out the ‘rest of the story’ for both mother and baby regarding
continuity of care at a tertiary center and discuss ACOG/AWHONN
standards related to specific diagnoses.
OB/GYN Grand
Rounds
The UAMS department of OB/GYN hosts a weekly grand rounds every
Wednesday morning from 8:00 - 8:50 AM. This interactive
teleconference provides physicians and other medical professionals
the opportunity to present clinical and research topics relating to
OB/GYN and other areas that concern women’s primary health care.
Speakers and presenters include OB/GYN faculty, 3rd and 4th year
residents, and physicians and specialists from other departments
within UAMS. An invitation to present and participate has also been
extended to speakers from other hospitals and organizations. This
diverse blend of physicians, specialists, and medical professionals
will ultimately lead to a more comprehensive view of patient
management.
Fetal Anomaly Interdisciplinary Management
(FAIM)
Our goals will include: reviewing normal and abnormal prenatal
ultrasound/MRI findings, refining diagnoses, establishing better
management plans, discussing recurrence risks, prognosis and /or
prevention, and reviewing new medical technologies that may aid in
the overall care of these babies. In addition, we hope to examine
the psychosocial needs of such affected families, so that we may
take even better care of them
The FAIM teleconference will be held the fourth Friday of each month
from 7:30 - 8:30 AM.
Peds PLACE
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas
Children's Hospital invites you to a weekly Pediatric
Tele-educational Conference held every
Thursday from 12:15 - 1:15 PM covering a different
pediatric problem each week. This interactive conference
allows all
the connecting sites to interact with the speaker and with each
other in real time. The conference will begin with a case
presentation which illustrates the topic to be discussed. The
speaker will frequently have written a guideline covering the topic
discussed, which will be posted on the Web, and will use the case
presentation to guide us through the most important parts of the
guideline.
Childhood Obesity Case Conference
