Center for Distance Health

Education

The founders of the Center for Distance Health (CDH) have long been immersed in educational distance health efforts, thus the CDH seeks to provide education through distance health technology to an array of participants, including physicians, clinicians, patients, medical students, and more. Below are a few examples of the CDH's educational initiatives.

Telehealth Resource Center
: The CDH provides education through telehealth, but also provides education regarding telehealth. With the CDH's core team's expertise in distance health technology, the CDH is seeking to establish a Telehealth Resource Center to serve Arkansas and the Delta region. This Resource Center would provide technological assessment and advisement on appropriate telehealth technologies for organizations interested in expanding or establishing telehealth systems. Once launched, the Telehealth Resource Center will provide the informational resources needed for any health organization to successfully and efficiently branch into distance health.

Train & Maintain: Train & Maintain is a technology training initiative created by the CDH in association with the Arkansas Division of Health (DOH). The Center for Distance Health will provide training, coordination, and support for telehealth resources in Arkansas, allowing for smooth interoperability between the three Arkansas telehealth networks: the UAMS Network, the DOH Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Network, and the DOH Local Health Unit Network. With federally funded bioterrorism lines installed throughout Arkansas, Train & Maintain seeks to provide telehealth expertise to those operating this equipment in Arkansas' hospitals by administering training to increase knowledge, comfort, and ability to respond to an emergency, while maintaining line connectivity and testing at all hospitals.
