Call Center

The Center for Distance Health (CDH) will utilize the established ANGELS Call Center, which is staffed by experienced Maternal-Fetal Medicine registered nurses. This 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, triage hotline offers telephone triage and advice based on evidence-based guidelines, physician referral, appointment scheduling, utilization management, disease and wellness management, and education to all callers.

In conjunction with the CDH, the Call Center schedules testing and maintenance of bioterrorism telehealth lines in Arkansas, while also directing those interested in telehealth to CDH staff. In the event that a clinical telehealth consultation conducted by the CDH results in an emergency, the Call Center facilitates emergency transport for patients. A total of 584 maternal transports were facilitated by the Call Center in 2005. Consequently, maternal transports to UAMS have increased 20% since the Call Center's inception in 2003.

The Call Center plays an integral role in maintaining the CDH. The Call Center can be reached at (866) 273-3835.
