About Occupational Health and Safety
The Department of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is the principal occupational health and safety office at UAMS.
OH&S works closely with the SAFE (Safety Awareness for Employees) coordinators, safety committees, administrators and faculty in the departments.

The mission of the OH&S department is to make UAMS a safe and environmentally responsible facility for patients, faculty, staff, students and the public.
To improve and protect the health and safety of employees, patients, visitors, students, and the surrounding environment through identification of workplace hazards and development of appropriate control measures.
• Primary Services
OH&S provides regulatory oversight for employee safety, environmental compliance, and safety training programs.
Safety training topics include fire, proper lifting/back safety, blood-borne pathogens, chemical hygiene, laboratory safety, radiation safety, respiratory safety, waste handling and disposal, and workstation ergonomics.
We also manage and report on air emissions, hazardous waste, and indoor air quality evaluations, investigate workplace incidents and work related injuries and illnesses.
