Position Monitoring
Each biennium, the state enacts legislation regarding personal services for
the campus, both in the specified number of positions by job title and the associated
line item maximum (LIM) salaries. To maintain compliance with these appropriations,
the Budget Office periodically monitors the current allocation of positions to
determine if any title is over-allotted or any salary exceeds the salary maximum,
and informs the Office of Human Resources of any discrepancies.
Information obtained during these analyses is used to help in the preparation
of the biennial Personal Services Requests to better reflect campus staffing needs.
