  • New UAMS policy requires research training for all faculty, residents and nurses

  • Training includes HIPPA for Research (once) and one of the following:

    • Human Subject Protections-Biomedical, this course is appropriate for persons whose research interests involves drugs, devices, and surgical/invasive procedures (q 2yrs)  OR

    • Human Subject Protections-Behavioral, this course is relevant to behavioral and social science fields and is not apporpriate for fields of research that may involve drugs, devices or surgical/invasive procedures (q 2yrs)

  • Training will require apporximately 2-3 hours to complete
  • Failure to comply may limit research activitiese and may result in disciplinary actions
  • Office of Research Compliance will send out reminders for recertification prior to the expiration of HSP training
  • Persons found to be delinquent will be reported to the Institutional Review Board and monetary penalties may be assessed to the department
