Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine

Welcome to the website of the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) located at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH).  The anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and other staff are dedicated to providing care, love, and hope to their patients throughout the perioperative period.

The pediatric anesthesiologists have all completed post-residency fellowship training in pediatric anesthesia and are all either board certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or currently enrolled in the ABA examination process. Additionally, several anesthesiologists in the Division are primarily dedicated to the care of adult patients who obtain medical care on the ACH campus.  All ACH-based anesthesiologists are physician faculty members of UAMS.  The anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists provide clinical care at a wide variety of locations around the ACH campus, including the main operating room suite, cardiovascular operating rooms, radiology department, and burn center, among other sites.  The faculty and staff also provide both acute and chronic pain services.

The Division of Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine works with UAMS to provide excellent anesthesiology residency training experiences as part of the core anesthesiology residency program, and also provides a pediatric anesthesia fellowship program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  The fellowship program is for graduate residents who seek to obtain additional training and expertise in pediatric anesthesia.  The Division also provides educational opportunities for a variety of students and residents from other training programs.
