Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology provides comprehensive anesthesia care for patients in the University Hospital, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans' Administration Medical Center. Services at the University Hospital are delivered in the main hospital surgical suites, outpatient surgical suites in the Outpatient Center as well as in the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute and the High Risk Labor and Delivery Suite located in the Ward Towers.

Many faculty providing care at Arkansas Children Hospital carry dual certification in both General Pediatrics and Anesthesiology and several have additional training in Pain Management and Critical Care. Adult Critical Care is provided by individuals with sub-specialty certification in Critical Care and some faculty carry dual certification in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology.

Expertise is available in all types of Anesthesia care including cardiovascular, neurosurgical, otolaryngological, and obstetrical as well as adult pain problems of both acute and chronic nature.

The Department provides pre-and post-anesthetic consultations in all the above mentioned areas.
