LINDA McGHEE, M.D.

Residency Faculty

Dr. McGhee was born in Malvern, Arkansas. She attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for her undergraduate education, graduating in 1967. She lives in Fayetteville somewhere out in the country and has two children and one grandchild. Some of Dr. McGhee's other interests include independent studies, traveling, community service, reading and gardening.

Dr. Linda Arthur McGhee graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine in 1971, and completed her residency in Pediatrics at that same institution in 1974. She joined the faculty of the UAMS Department of Family and Community Medicine in 1974 and remained there in Little Rock until 1977. She became Board Certified in Pediatrics in 1976 and in Family Medicine in 1978, and is our only faculty member who has been double-boarded in two medical specialties. In addition, Dr. McGhee received her Certification in Meyer-Briggs Personality Testing in 1989. In 1978 Dr. McGhee was promoted to Associate Professor in the UAMS Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and joined the faculty of the AHEC-NW Family Medicine Residency in Fayetteville.

Dr. McGhee currently serves as one of our full-time residency faculty. Past duties in the residency program include directing the Family Medical Center and serving as the coordinator for Pediatrics, Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences. Residents, students and faculty benefit from her counseling through the use of the Meyer-Briggs Personality Type Indicator. Dr. McGhee has developed a keen interest in the treatment of HIV/AIDS patients and serves on several community, county and statewide boards related to this concern. Since 1992 she has been the Medical Director of the Washington County HIV Clinic, the first County HIV Clinic in the State of Arkansas. At WRMC she has served as a member of the Critical Care Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and is presently Chairman of the Physician Health Committee.

Dr. McGhee has been active in organized medicine and is a Past President of the Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians. She has served on the Arkansas State Medical Board and the Arkansas Department of Health Board. She has also served on several community health task forces.
