Dr. Martin graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in
1982. Dr. Martin completed his Family Medicine Residency at the Navy's
Charleston, South Carolina Residency Program in 1987. He also completed a
Geriatrics Fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in
1991. Dr. Martin became the Residency Program Director in January 1999 and
has been a full time Assistant Professor at the AHEC-NW Family Medicine
Residency Program since 1991.
Dr. Martin is the author of chapters on "Altered Mental States/Dementia" and
"Delirium" in the first and second editions respectively of Saunders Manual
of Medical Practice edited by Dr. Robert E. Rakel. He is a frequent lecturer
on topics related to geriatrics such as Parkinson's disease, elder abuse and
dementia. Despite his numerous administrative responsibilities he maintains
an active medical practice in the Family Medical Center.
Born in Joplin, Missouri, Dr. Martin is married with two children, and is an
active member of the First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas. He did
his undergraduate work at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a BA in
Chemistry in 1976. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1982 through 1989.
