NUMBER: 4.3.03
DATE: 07/01/91
REVISION:07/01/2003
| SECTION: | HUMAN RESOURCES |
| AREA: | EMPLOYMENT |
| SUBJECT: | TIME RECORDING FOR DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME |
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to notify departments within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) of the procedures for recording time that will be consistently followed for all staff employees who are working when time changes occur. Twice each year the University is required to adjust all clocks consistent with the U.S. Uniform Time Act (Daylight Savings Time). Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April and ends at 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October.
PROCEDURE
Those full-time employees who are required to work a customary night shift,
11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., will work nine hours at the end of Daylight Savings
Time in October when clocks are reversed one hour. In those cases, time
actually worked, nine hours, should be shown on the Time and Attendance Sheet,
and the employee will be paid for the additional hour consistent with the
provision of the UAMS Overtime Policy 4.2.01. In cases where the employee is
using Accutime (Kronos) to record IN and OUT punches, the timecard calculation
may be automatically adjusted to reflect increase hours and overtime: check
announcements from Payroll or Information Technology at the time of the
change. Otherwise, Timekeepers must manually
add 1.0 OT hour and 1.0 SD hour (5.5, 14 or 20, as applicable)
