USE POLICY |
PURPOSE
Due to the large number of daily incoming and
outgoing telephone calls that are made in the regular course of
business for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
(UAMS), it is essential that the use of telephone calls for
personal matters be restricted, except in the case of emergency
situations. The purpose of this policy is to inform departments
of the basic procedures regarding the use of UAMS telephones.
PROCEDURES
- Each day the UAMS switchboard and the
various departments receive numerous calls, many of which
are of a critical nature. For this reason, incoming or
outgoing personal telephone calls, other than those calls
designated to be an emergency, are not permitted on UAMS
business telephones. Public pay telephones are located
throughout the hospital and are to be utilized when a
telephone call is of a personal nature.
- In the case of an emergency call to the
UAMS Office of Human Resources, a message will be taken
and communicated to the employee.
- Under no circumstances are personal
long-distance telephone calls to be made on UAMS
telephones or charged to the University, regardless if
reimbursement is intended. Neither is the University
WATTS line to be used for personal calls.
