Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center is an intramural research program of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Our mission is to conduct research on diet and dietary factors that optimize the nutrition and health of young children through adolescence and maximize their health as adults, especially later in life.

To fulfill our mission, Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center has five areas of focus: Our Vision, Our Research, Our Participants, Our Team and Our Facility.  Collectively, these 5 areas play an important role in expanding our services and reaching our goal of providing cutting-edge research to the pediatric community.  Currently, we focus on two areas of pediatric nutrition research: brain development and function (i.e. language acquisition, cognition) and disease prevention.  However, we plan to eventually expand our research focus to include bone development and remodeling, enhancement of immune function and body composition (i.e. obesity).  Our research participants are helping us achieve this goal by their tireless dedication to our work and research.  Together with our team of faculty and staff we are striving to have an impact on the nutrition of children.
