KL2 Career Development Awards Program - Deadline June 1, 2011

A KL2 Mentored Clinical Research Scholar Program has been established within the Arkansas Translational Research Institute (TRI). The KL2 Awards provide didactic and mentored research training for PhDs or professional doctorates (MD, PharmD, DrPH, DO, etc) that are committed to academic careers in clinical or translational research. Didactic coursework leading to a PhD, MS, MPH or graduate certificate may be pursued. Generous financial support and benefits are provided for post-doctoral scholars, fellows, and junior faculty.

Benefits include:

  • 75% of the scholar’s salary (up to $52,000). If 75% salary exceeds $52K, the College/Department/Division will need to support the balance. NIH requires at least 75% protected time.
  • Up to $25,000 per year in research funds
  • Support for travel and tuition for graduate-level coursework

Eligible candidates must:

  • Possess a doctoral-level degree including, but not limited to, MD, PhD, PharmD, DrPH, or DO.
  • Be committed to a career focused on clinical or translational investigation.
  • Be a US citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident (individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible).
  • Be a full-time UAMS faculty member able to devote 75% professional effort to the program for a minimum of two years.
  • Have the support of a mentor(s) approved by the program and the approval of their department or divisional chair.
  • Not have served as Principal Investigator on an NIH R01, K series or subproject of a P or M series grant, or any other substantive post-doctoral training or career development award
  • Please contact Ms Regina Dennis with eligibility inquiries or additional questions.
