Community Engagement

Specific Aims

Aim 1. Identify research priorities, barriers, and required resources. Community Engagement personnel will establish ongoing two-way communication with community partners to identify interests, priorities, and resources needed to develop translational research. Staff for each community will use techniques appropriate to their target populations to identify this valuable information.

Aim 2. Cultivate resources needed to address these priorities and barriers. Community Engagement personnel will work with community partners and TRI personnel to develop projects consistent with interests and priorities from Aim 1 and to obtain required funding for implementation.

Aim 3. Develop relevant skills and methods to address these priorities. Community Engagement personnel will work with partners to identify and schedule training activities required to accomplish research projects developed in Aim 2.

Community EngagementAim 4. Develop a health registry for recruitment and develop community-based protocols. Program Specialists will work with community partners and Informatics and Center for Clinical Research personnel to develop a health registry that facilitates recruitment for research projects consistent with lay community priorities and to enhance information dissemination about evidence-based guidelines, clinical services, and public health programs.
