Annual Qualification Assessment Policy

As in all professions, the field of health care interpreting  is guided by certain principles in the performance of the duties.  It is essential that the trained, professional  interpreters are able to maintain consistent, high quality performance as required for employment. Pursuing "best practices", Medical Interpreter Training Program has designed and is now offering annual qualification test focused on the practical concerns to identify the quality of the performance requirements for the health care interpreters. Starting this year a certificate of successful completion of the  medical interpreting course  includes a statement that "formal assessment of interpreter's qualifications is required annually".   

Testing

Qualification Assessment Test is intended to define and evaluate in-depth interpreter's linguistic ability, interpreting skills, cultural competency, knowledge of ethical principles and standards of practice.
