Dr. Norton, May 6, 1919 - December 22, 2004

Dr. Joseph A. NortonJoseph Andrew Norton, M.D., died at Presbyterian Village on December 22, 2004, at age 85. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on May 6, 1919, and he recieved his M.D. from UAMS in 1942. He married the late Mary Bobera Pace on December 22, 1940. He served as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before completing residency training in radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. He worked at Radiology Associates in Little Rock for 35 years and volunteered his time to community service for various medical, religious, and musical organizations. After retiring from private practice radiology, he taught at UAMS and Penn State and continued to serve patients by comforting and singing to patients and families at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.

Dr. Norton is survived by four children (his three daughters, Jo Donna Rothberg, Martha Norton deBin, and Bobera L. Young, and his son Dr. George Norton) and six grandchildren. His funeral services were held on Monday, December 27, with a memorial service at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, where Dr. Norton was a member since 1950.

Dr. Jean Matchett is presented with a plaque that will hang on a book cabinet for the residents located in the main radiology reading room. The cabinet was donated by Radiology Associates; PA in memory of the Joseph A. Norton. Book cabinet for residents that was dedicated from Radiology Associates; PA in memory of Joseph A. Norton M.D.
Radiology Associates donated money to buy the residents a book cabinet
for the main reading room in memory of Dr. Norton.
The donation was announced at the residents' graduation in 2005.
