Joseph Andrew Norton, M.D., died at Presbyterian Village on December 22, 2004, at age 85. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on May 6, 1919, and he recieved his M.D. from UAMS in 1942. He married the late Mary Bobera Pace on December 22, 1940. He served as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before completing residency training in radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. He worked at Radiology Associates in Little Rock for 35 years and volunteered his time to community service for various medical, religious, and musical organizations. After retiring from private practice radiology, he taught at UAMS and Penn State and continued to serve patients by comforting and singing to patients and families at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
Dr. Norton is survived by four children (his three daughters, Jo Donna Rothberg, Martha Norton deBin, and Bobera L. Young, and his son Dr. George Norton) and six grandchildren. His funeral services were held on Monday, December 27, with a memorial service at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, where Dr. Norton was a member since 1950.
