Crime Prevention Tips

From Your UAMS POLICE DEPARTMENT

GENERAL CAMPUS COMMUNITY

The UAMS Police Department uses RADAR to enforce the campus wide speed limit of 20 m.p.h.

We are asking for your cooperation by observing all posted speed limits and traffic laws.

If you are working late or arriving early and would like an escort to or from your vehicle, call the UAMS Police at 686-7777.

"Invisible" Property Marking service available FREE from UAMS Police.  Contact Sergeant Dobbs for more information.

Please lock up all your personal items and don?t take chances by leaving your purse or other valuables under your desk or in a desk drawer that is not locked.

It only takes a few minutes to lose everything if it is easily accessible, and it only takes a few minutes to be safe and lock it up.

Help us to take a bite out of crime by being extra cautious and reporting anything suspicious to the UAMS Police Department.

As the Summer approaches, we need to be extra concerned as thefts normally go up this time of the year.

Remember we can make a difference and with your help we can make this a safer working environment.

A CREDIT CARD TIP

Instead of signing your name to the back of your credit cards write "Ask for I.D." In the event that they are lost or stolen.

ATTENTION ALL EMPLOYEES and STAFF

Before you leave your office or workstation for the day, LOG OFF   YOUR COMPUTER!

There have been a large number of computers tampered with and in most cases it was made easy because the user of the computer did not log off or shut down their computer.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE IT EASY FOR UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS TO ACCESS YOUR COMPUTER.

ALL EMPLOYEES

Are encouraged to secure their personal property and valuables as well.

We cannot emphasize the importance of employees securing their property.  Our officers take far too many reports from employees who had become victims of theft because they were careless with their property.  Don't assume it can't happen just because it has not happened to you!

MORE purses are stolen hidden under desks and behind counters than any other location.

LOCK IT UP!

DON'T TAKE CHANCES

Be alert for suspicious people loitering in your work area and notify a supervisor or the UAMS Police.

Thieves like to move around where there is opportunity.

If you are working late and have reason to be apprehensive about getting to your vehicle, call the UAMS Police for an escort.

Blue light emergency phones are located throughout the UAMS campus for your safety.  Please use these phones to report any suspicious persons or activity.  Everything you do to make it difficult for the criminal lessens our chances of becoming a statistic.

NEVER give your 'PIN' card number to anyone claiming to be a bank employee and that INCLUDES the POLICE!

BE AWARE - BE ALERT - BE INVOLVED
