Capt. J D Sexton   is responsible for the Patrol Division maintaining a safe environment on the UAMS campus through enforcement of State Statutes, Local Ordinances and UAMS Regulations by conducting pro-active preventative patrol to include vehicle, foot, scooter Gem Car and bicycle patrol to assure the safety of the UAMS community.

Training & Crime Prevention/C.O.P.

Sgt. Will Brents is the Training and Crime Prevention/C.O.P. Officer for the UAMS Police Dept.

Sgt. Brents is responsible for making sure that all officers of the department receive proper training and maintain their certification under the regulations of the Law Enforcement Standards Commission.  In addition Sgt. Brents is the Crime Prevention officer for the department. He takes care of these additional tasks.

• Crime prevention handouts and presentations on and off campus including McGruff the Crime Dog?
• Non-criminal fingerprinting                                                 
• New employee orientation
• Student orientation
• Department quartermaster
• Attends local Neighborhood Watch meetings
• Maintain in-house library of VCR training and crime prevention tapes

• Certified law enforcement and radar instruction
