Clinical and Translational Sciences

Prerequisites for Admission into the CTS Track
Applicants must hold an advanced degree in a biomedical field such as an MD, RN, PharmD, MPH, DPH or PHD are eligible.  Applicants holding other degrees with significant experience in clinical research management or clinical experience may petition the Dean of the Graduate School for consideration by submitting supporting evidence of qualifications along with their request.

To apply for the CTS track, applicants must submit the following:

  • Application
  • Curriculum vitae or resume
  • 2 letters of recommendation or support
  • Transcripts from qualifying degree program

    Currently, students in the CTS track are not offered stipends or tuition payment.

    CTS Track Requirements
    The MS degree-seeking students will take a minimum of 36 semester credit hours, including courses in the CTS Core Curriculum, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.85 in all graduate courses. In addition, the Non-Thesis Option requires that students pass a comprehensive examination. The Thesis Option requires 30 semester credit hours of coursework plus a minimum of 6 credit hours of Thesis Research (IBSD 600V), the submission of a thesis and a successful thesis defense.

    Students in the PhD program will take the CTS Core Curriculum plus specific electives determined by the student's Advisory Committee for a minimum of 36 semester credit hours course work and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.85 on all graduate courses. Students must pass the PhD Candidacy Exam, and subsequently, PhD Candidates must complete a minimum of 18 semester credit hours of Doctoral Dissertation research (IBSD 700V). To complete the requirements of the PhD program candidates will conduct scholarly research under the guidance of their Advisor and Doctoral Advisory Committee, submit a written doctoral dissertation, and successfully defend the research in a public forum.
