This department buys real estate and manages and maintains rental properties for UAMS, and also coordinates UAMS leases for off-campus facilities.

Property Management
UAMS rental properties are clean, well maintained older homes that have received cosmetic upgrades. All are located conveniently close to the campus, and they are offered to UAMS personnel and the public alike on a first-come-first-served basis. Rents range from $325-$850 and tenants are responsible for utilities. Leases carry a one-year term, and a damage deposit is required. The leasing agent is Steve Hendrich of Betty Krenz Property Management (664-0800).

Real Estate Purchases & Policy
The boundaries for acquisition of residential property are the area south of
Plateau and north of 7th, with east-west borders on Elm and the west side of
Pine. In accordance with the Chancellor's 1996 Good Will Agreement with the
neighborhood association, dwellings purchased by UAMS that can be repaired for
20% of the purchase price will receive upgrades and will be leased to the public
until the land is needed for campus expansion. Structures that cannot be
redeemed will be demolished and the vacant lots will be planted in grass and
maintained by UAMS, provided the space is not needed for temporary construction
parking.
