Exciting and Rewarding Health Care Careers

Dear Student:

I am delighted to introduce you to a rewarding career where you can put your undergraduate science courses or degree to work! Respiratory Care is a "high tech" health care career, in which you help people, earn a great salary, and enjoy nearly certain job placement.  Our full-time Respiratory Care program is two years in length, with programs in Little Rock, Texarkana and Batesville. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science.

We invite you and your family to learn more about our profession and program by attending an open house on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. till noon on the UAMS campus (see map), in the College of Public Health Building, room 3202. You will learn more about the profession through hands-on demonstrations by our students.  You will also learn about our educational program, including prerequisite course requirements and application procedures.  It will be an excellent opportunity for you to explore the advantages of a career as a respiratory therapist and to meet our students and faculty!

Please click the following link and complete the online registration form:  www.uams.edu/chrp/respiratorycare/news/register.asp.

For more information about the profession or our program, please visit our Web site: www.uams.edu/chrp/respiratorycare.  Additionally, you may wish to visit the American Association for Respiratory Care Web site: www.aarc.org

If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to call me at 501-257-2348.  We look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Erna L. Boone, M.Ed., R.R.T., Chairman

“I enjoy the close patient contact that we get in the UAMS respiratory care program. UAMS prepares us well for working with patients through extensive lab and clinical experiences. With the small class size, the faculty interacts with us on a personal basis. Additionally, we get diverse and rewarding experiences, from delivering the first breath of life to a newborn baby to helping a child with asthma breathe. I look forward to many diverse career opportunities.”

“The UAMS Respiratory Care program is exciting and challenging. This field is fast-paced and growing rapidly. My experience in this program has been wonderful. I learn something new everyday from our excellent teachers. I’ve never seen teachers so willing and determined to help. When I graduate, I will have the knowledge and strong educational background to succeed. Knowing that one day I will help save lives is rewarding and gives me sense of accomplishment. It is a privilege to be a part of such a great program and exciting field.”
