| SECTION: | INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY |
| AREA: | GENERAL |
| SUBJECT: | TERMINATED EMPLOYEE ACCESS PROCEDURE |
PURPOSE
Access to computer systems and proprietary information is determined by the job responsibilities of the individual seeking access and must be controlled and monitored through management oversight and identification authentication practices.
PROCEDURE
Whenever a person ceases to work at UAMS either through choice or circumstance, it becomes the responsibility of UAMS to terminate access to all computers systems and email accounts.
- In situations of possible risk to the institution and/or computer system, an employees manager may request immediate or scheduled removal of system privileges by contacting the UAMS Computer Help Desk (686-8555).
- IT Security has been added to the list of "checkout" departments for departing employees¹. Upon checkout with IT Security, the employees system access privileges will be disabled.
- Human Resources maintains a database of current employees. The person will be deleted from this database.
- Server Support will run a comparison between the Human Resources database and all Network Domain accounts.
- On any discrepancy, the account will be automatically disabled for 30 days.
- At the end of 30 days, if there has been no mistake, the Server Support group will delete the account permanently.
