SUBJECT: SOFTWARE LICENSING

PURPOSE

It is the policy of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) that all software run on UAMS equipment must be licensed according to the vendor terms for that software package and employees must adhere to published software license provisions. Software use is subject to audits to assure compliance with this policy. Where it is determined that this policy has been violated, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken.

PROCEDURE

  1. All software run on UAMS equipment must be licensed according to vendor terms.
  2. Employees of UAMS who purchase software from a vendor buy only the license to use the software. The license is the property of UAMS and must be filed and available for audit if requested.
  3. Use of that software must be in accordance with the terms of the software's licensing agreement.

The UAMS Computer Help Desk (686-8555) is available to provide assistance to any employee with interpretation of the terms and conditions of software licenses.
